Miranda focuses her practice on the defense of medical professionals and product manufacturers. he has represented health care facilities, physicians, psychologists, dentists and nurses in state and federal courts in Virginia and Pennsylvania. Miranda has successfully defended corporate clients in complex tort, product liability and premises actions in both state and federal courts across the United States and has vast experience in a variety of personal injury cases, including incidents involving catastrophic injuries and death. Miranda has conducted and defended hundreds of expert and company witness depositions, coordinated major discovery projects, briefed and argued motions, participated in mock jury research exercises, and presented witnesses and arguments at trial. She has managed large teams of outside counsel in all aspects of the litigation process.
Miranda has first-chaired more than a dozen jury trials throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia. Additionally, she has negotiated favorable settlements for many clients, avoiding the risk and uncertainty of litigation. Miranda drafted a motion leading to summary judgment on behalf of an international Fortune 500 company against plaintiffs seeking $50 million in damages.

- Defense verdict for plastic surgeon and the surgeon’s practice in a medical malpractice matter alleging failure to recognize and treat urinary retention following abdominal surgery resulting in emergency hospitalization, and extensive inpatient rehabilitation (Henrico).
Reported Decisions:
- Lawson v, FCA US, LLC, 2021 U.S. Dist. LEXIS 158808 (W.D. Va., 2021). U.S. District for Western District of Virginia granted summary judgment dismissing Plaintiffs’ negligence and breach of warranty claims based on manufacturer’s design defect.
